Darryl Sutton

Originally from the coastal city of Durban in South Africa, Darryl Sutton has now joined Falling Manic after residing in Canada since 2005. His passion for music and extensive experience has made him a perfect fit for Falling Manic. In his childhood years his favorite song was Hotel California by The Eagles and he was influenced by his parents playing such artists as Elvis, The Beatles, and Neil Diamond.

In 1987, he started a school band called St Legend that performed at school functions, church youth meetings on Friday nights, and a couple times at Durban City Hall. Two years after that project, he formed a heavy metal band called Idolvice which were influenced by the likes of Metallica and Iron Maiden.

With his desire to perform more and for larger venues, Darryl formed the band Reckless Heart in 1991. After playing several large concerts at festivals and local pubs, the band lineup changed and became known as Gypsy. Darryl recalls one memorable Gypsy concert where is microphone was taken away by the local police and their crowd was told to settle down or the remainder of the concert would be cancelled. Darryl remarks that he felt like the late “Jim Morrison” at that moment as the situation was reminiscent of a Doors concert in which the same thing happened. After several more large venues and appearing in local newspapers, the band started having internal issues and after their drummer returned to England, the band broke up and they all went their separate ways.

Darryl took a break from being a part of a band for a few years until 1997 when he joined Mystic Rhythms. This band played at a local venue for a consecutive five years until Darryl decided it was time to go solo. .His decision to pursue a solo career would help him finance his immigration to Canada.

In 2004, Darryl helped form an all original material band called Heaven’s Mirror. This band also played at large clubs, bars and festivals.

In 2009, Darryl answered an online advertisement for the band Falling Manic. He was sent three original songs to learn within a week’s time. The band was so impressed with his audition that they hired him on the spot. Along with his experience and exceptional vocals, his attitude and commitment level is what will help launch Falling Manic into a huge successful future.

“I am very honored and excited about singing for Falling Manic. This is a great new musical direction for me. I’d like to thank Dwayne, Pat, and Steve for giving me this opportunity.”
